Fellow citizens, Regional Councillors, cabinet members, all of you,
I was tempted to write a more bleak end of term address, however several people convinced me otherwise. They convinced me that this term had been better than I saw it. They told me more accomplishments had been done than I had remembered. That it was more than damage control.
In this term, we got the citizenship bill passed, so that we could have some form of security in the region. We got our legislature reformed. These are what I would consider the 'crowning achievements' of my term in office. Among many other small things, these are what I am most proud of.
Moving on to things that I'm not so proud of. As mentioned in the last end of term address, the regional population was then 95 nations. As of today (June 8, 2018), that number has dropped to 50 nations. This is unsustainable in the future. I have been doing all I can to recruit new nations (apart from stamps, because I have no money). This includes both manual recruitment and API telegrams. I have doing my best to keep the recruitment infrastructure updated. The last thing I want is for my successor, whoever that may be, to inherit an broken system that will only aid the speed at which nations leave. Citizens of Londinium, I call upon you to continue my efforts to recruit new members!
During this term, we have suffered a tragic loss. Many of our old members have faded into inactivity and we no longer had enough members to sustain the old legislature, hence the legislature reform. Right now, we barely have enough members to run the region. With recruiting new members, we may be able to get a few more, however we also need to keep the current ones interested. We need everyone we can. Londinium Roleplay, which has recently fallen inactive, was a great attractor for active nations. The militia might also do the same, provided all the necessary effort is put in.
As for me, I will not be seen around Londinium for a while after this term is over. I will be away for essentially the whole summer, so expect a return around late August or early September. I look forward to welcoming my successor in this office, as well as all the new electors and cabinet ministers. As I said, even though I feel this term was merely damage control, better that than have the region die out. I thank you all for the privilege to have served you as your Prime Minister.
May Londinium never fade into obscurity.
