Hey all, thought it would be helpful to explain exactly how recruitment to a region works.
In Nationstates, there are three ways to recruit new nations to a region.
1. Use Stamps
Stamps allow you to send telegrams to hundreds of new nations at once. Very easy, all you do is set up a message, and send it to "tag:new1000" and the message will be sent to the next 1000 nations to be founded.
Right now, stamps is the main way we are recruiting for Londinium. The bad part about stamps is they cost money. They aren't too expensive, but keeping them going forever usually isn't a viable option.
2. Us an API script
Another way to recruit is set up an auto-recruitment script that will send messages for you. This method is great, however there are rules that those recruiting by script need to follow or the region could face punishment from the Nationstates Administrators.
3. Manual recruitment
BACK IN THE DAY, this was the only way anyone could recruit. Now, however, it remains a solid option—especially in addition to the above methods.
Manual recruitment means sending messages to new nations one at a time. It can be time consuming, and a little boring, but Nationstates prioritizes telegrams sent manually before those sent by API or stamps. This means that manual recruitment can give a region a BIG edge in recruiting new members.
In the next week, I'd love to see us get a manual recruitment system set up. Even sending 10 telegrams or so could be a big help, because these messages will get to new nations before those send by stamps or API. I can create a how-to guide on doing this if there is an interest!
