Bymaria For Re-Election As Prime Minister!
"Together we move forwards"
After announcing my candidacy in the Union Address, I will now form a campaign platform. Please feel free to ask any questions and offer your support in this thread.
Below is a summary of where I stand on each of the following Topics: -GovernmentThroughout the past few months of my tenure I have sought to empower all of our nations and to give them a fair say in how the region should operate, which I'd like to continue to do in a second term as PM. I am currently working with Tiberius Cecil to add the position of attorney general to the cabinet to be responsible for the legal affairs, including prosecutions, and policy of the region. I firmly believe in government transparency and accountability to the people and believe Parliament should be primarily charged with maintaining this. I aim to pass an amendment on executive orders by the sovereign and Prime Minister to clarify role capacities - neither should be able to write an Executive Order that changes, erases or contradicts our constitution, and parliament should be able to rescind any executive order by majority vote. Our current legislative process has proven to be very effective, so if elected I will make improvements, but ensure that we keep the same system, setting guidelines for anyone to draft a bill. In order to efficiently sustain an active cabinet, each month into what I hope will be my next term, I would have a check in on each of my ministers to ensure that they are faithfully executing their duties to the region. -Regional Affairs
What I perceive as most important about this campaign is the Factbook system and law library that we will implement together. All of our current pages about the region are scattered across a few different Factbooks, so to resolve this issue what I plan to do is have each region-related Factbook split into one of various sections accessible by a sort of contents page at the top of each of these factbooks. From there you can see links to a homepage of each section as well as to discord and the off-site forum to promote membership. The law Library will be just one section of this system to record acts of parliament, executive orders and any other rules that are established, such as the criminal code. The pages remain separate, but are all joined by this system and any page can be accessed from another. Sounds pretty complex, but will be simple in practice. Each of these official factbook pages will have the "Union of Londinium" image - seen on the constitution - above the contents section. Please ask if this needs further explanation. Roleplay has now begun and been allowed to thrive due to the participation of our nations. As the region's population grows, this government will go on to subsidize our RP section, by encouraging participation and making improvements where we are able to. The German Empire and I are potentially looking at creating a new, separate financial roleplay once the original 1937 one is perfected.
With Christmas fast approaching, I want this region to - along with applying for a regional booth in the NSWF - hold its own celebrations and a new year's conference. Our half-year anniversary will be on February the 6th which I really think will be a time to celebrate under my leadership! -RecruitmentI recently held a competition for the position of Minister of Population and gifted the winner, Cochardia, 5000 stamps. I would like to keep Cochardia on as head of the Recruitment Ministry, but always welcome new ideas as well. I am looking into my own API recruitment program to boost membership, as well as the purchase of more stamps. If anyone feels they can produce a really good recruitment telegram for us to use I would be happy to reward them. -Security We have, as of currently, only had to eject one nation, however we must never allow any nation that would be considered a threat to compromise regional safety. We need to take stand against racism and hate speech by ejecting anyone promoting it. I will approve the criminal code that is passing through parliament and enforce it honestly. Additionally we must be frequently be reviewing regional happenings and anything that might come across as suspicious.
-Foreign Affairs What most of Londinium's political parties agree is that we should construct embassies with mainly large regions, recruiter-friendly ones and those that reflect our own values, which is exactly what Chief Diplomat Nyelant has been doing since his appointment to the state department. I want to publicize the inter-regional affairs forum folder more so that any nation of Londinium knows they can propose embassies with regions they think we could benefit from.My position on raiding remains the same: that I personally disagree with it and that the region should keep a neural status.
A Vote For Bymaria Is A Vote For...
- Regional security
- Expansion
- More opportunities in Roleplay and government
- An easily navigated Factbook system and law library
- New Ideas
- A better, safer, stronger region

A strong platform! Two questions:
(1) If you could go back and change one thing about your last term, what would it be?
(2) You voted against creating a military (I believe) but most people seemed to be in favor. Would you oppose a non-raiding military being established?

One thing I would have prefered is to have got my cabinet sorted out sooner and to have held the recruitment contest earlier, but in a second term I shouldn’t have that problem, due to the monthly check-ins I proposed. I will remain personally opposed to the establishment of a military as I feel the region has higher priorities at the moment. If we have a clear message from the Assembly that Londinium does want a raiding group in the future, then I would respect that decision.

Just a defense-based military.

As a largely raider-proof region, I’ve outlined before that I think we should maintain a neutral status. I just don’t think we should get involved at this early stage.

Allow me to present one of those hypotheticals which is not too hypothetical: We form a regional military, as the majority of voters in a regional poll indicated they would like a military of some sort. Given that the focus was on self-defense and defense of allies, would you be opposed to our training people to raid on the side?

Given that the focus was on self-defense and defense of allies, would you be opposed to our training people to raid on the side? I would not prevent it if there are enough nations eager to do that and someone capable of training them, however a functioning and strong government my prime concern. The number of people who supported the poll and the number who might actually take part in raiding could be very different. Training on the side would be a much more acceptable option to me.
