As part of our celebration, for the next few days, anyone who wants to speak, however briefly, on the state of the region is encouraged to do so. I would first like to ask United Barbaros to repost his RMB speech here. As festivities conclude I will post a speech of my own. Until then, the floor is open.

Friends, royalty, senators, citizens and residents,
I find it hard to believe that it's been a whole year since I first joined Nationstates and founded my country. It was not long before I started answering issues and molded my nation into what it is today, and it wasn't long before I look upon regions to join. I remember all of the telegrams I received, all the "Hello, New Nation"s I read.
After reading a few telegrams, I came upon the recruitment telegram from Fortwhile. It appealed to me over most of the telegrams I read. Between it's simplicity, enticement, and warmth, it stood out, as well as an "opportunity to make a mark in the region". After some consideration, as you all can see, I chose Londinium. In all honesty, I'm glad I did.
Not long after that, we, as a community, worked to better he region in form and reputation. We made a bicameral system with a fully functional and efficient executive and judiciary. We made a region where a new nation, like myself, had a voice. After the nomination of former Prime Minister Bymaria, I was confirmed as a justice of Londinium, alongside her majesty Lady Cari and Southern Aurgidiem. I cannot say how thankful and appreciative I am of this, since I don't think I would be where I am in the region if it weren't for this.
We developed Roleplay for current and potential member nations to enjoy. We've talked, laughed, and debated on our official discord. We developed a capable and successful militia for the defense of Londinium and it's interests. We've passed legislation, held our own elections, developed campaigns, and created distinct political parties.
We've fought amongst each other in the best interest for the region. We've faced individuals and fellow regionmates who have questioned and threatened the functionality, security, and validity of Londinium. We've delt with, and continue to deal with the fallout from veteran and important members who have seemingly disappeared from our region's affairs. Yet, we continue to prevail.
Needs arise as time goes by. For a short while, we developed and adopted an adaptable unicameral system to better fit our region. We've developed embassies with numerous prestigious regions, and continue to have good relations with these regions, thanks to our distinguished members that have served as Foreign Diplomat and Prime Minister--Nyelant, Sopo, and Bymaria.
With his creativity and foresight, Londinium's founder and High King, his Majesty Fortwhile, introduced a Romano-British Reformation for the region, aligning the region with a system and theme befitting for Londinium. We, as a region, approved of this vision, and before long, it has become reality.
With our new and promising Senate, we voted in our first Consul of Londinium, Sopo. After what seemed to be a fall from grace, Sopo has become a solid pillar on which these region rests upon. He selected as officers other pillars of our region, Lady Cari, Bymaria, and Nesearan, as well as a new and devoted member, Mizfit, and me. Now, Lady Cari was selected unanimously by the Senate to hold the office of Consul, due to special circumstances.
We've come a long way in the past year, but as everyone knows, we still have a way to go, and the sky is the limit for Londinium. I don't know what will happen in coming time, whether Londinium will thrive until the end of time, or Londinium will be like Camelot, to live on in memory. Whatever happens, we should be proud of what has been accomplished and done. We should continue learning from mistakes, and keep moving forward as needed.
May Londinium, my home region, thrive and prosper.

Honourable Consul, fellow regional officers, residents, and esteemed foreign dignitaries,
As one of our eldest nations, I am honoured to be able to address you all on this important date. . Today marks the date that we begin to embark on the next chapter of Londinium’s history. A year since we first came into existence. I know the last twelve months have certainly been eventful - and through it all we’ve had our ups and downs - but here we continue to build and grow as a community, thanks to the hard-work, creativity and contributions of our members.
So moving into this next phase, I would like to first and foremost give thanks to everyone who has helped us get here. To Fortwhile, our revered monarch. To the current government, and to all of its predecessors. To anyone ever to contribute and participate, I thank you. Londinium truly is in its members, and without you all we couldn’t be here today.
Together we have recruited, roleplayed, debated, and overcome. We have overcome several unsuccessful coup attemps. We have overcome a short period of stagnation. We have overcome several other boundaries faced by small regions such as our own. Our community, nay, our home, really has travelled a great distance since 6th August, 2017.
More challenges, opportunities and achievements certainly await us in both the near and distant future and I look forwards to overcoming them together.
Thank you and may Londinium prosper!

Lady Cari had not been seen outside her country for quite some time, preferring to speak through one of her many underlings on the world stage. Thus, when her personal appearance was promised at Londinium’s Anniversary Festival, quite a few wondered just what she would say.
It was common knowledge, among anyone who followed politics, that Cari’s actions and attitudes in foreign affairs had changed. Experts in politics attributed it to the dictator’s growing experience in the field. Sources allegedly “closer” to Her Excellency were more inclined to believe it was just because she had decided that ruling dumb foreigners wasn’t worth her time. Either way, world leaders had their best transcriptors ready to take down any controversial statement she might make.
The crowd was silent as Lady Cari stepped up to the podium. She gave a disappointed glare from under her fedora. Slowly a wave of applause spread over the audience, then the dictator began her speech.
“Peace.”
She paused for a solid thirty seconds. Half the audience was impressed that that word existed in her vocabulary.
“Peace. It’s an interesting concept to me, personally. Back when we settled these lands, we, the nations of Londinium, were not all very fond of each other. Countless land wars in Asia, and elsewhere. We talked of peace, but none were interested. When a League of Peace was formed, many set up puppet governments to enter into and influence the league, rather than have their own nation come under their rule.
“I was just as belligerent as anyone, though I soon learned that micronations are not in a good place to conquer much of anything. My focus shifted to the leaders of Londinium. I worked closely with the King of Fortwhile and other world leaders to build a way we could all work together and be a force in the world. At the time, my agenda and the agenda of most others did not remotely line up. I trusted no one, and no one trusted me. It was wonderful.
“But things happened. We resolved a few issues. That ‘coup attempt’ in particular...you all know what I’m talking about...we quickly put up a united response, and were stronger because of it. War breeds strength, and while peace does not directly breed weakness, it does breed something equally deadly.
“Complacency.
“Complacency is what we now fight, and it is a far harder battle than external or even internal conflict. When we are complacent, we assume things will work out and don’t put in any effort for the future. I...am just as guilty as any other.
“Look at us now. It has been a year since we first settled this land. This should be a time of celebration, but there is no one around to celebrate. We can barely pass the most needed reforms. Look around you, nations of Londinium. That demagogue Bobson* may dance around this truth, but here it is: we are dying.”
Another long pause. Cari’s head was hung in what was, to all appearances, genuine sorrow.
“Leaders—kings, presidents, overlords, whatever—of Londinium, I have one command for you all. Wake up.”
She lifted her eyes to the audience again. “Wake up. I know, you all are busy running your own lands. But there is coming a time for new world players. People who give just a little time to help the region as a whole. If you don’t know how to do that, I’m sure there’s a call center or something in Bymaria to tell you how.
“If we, the nations of Londinium, take the time to look beyond our own borders, we can thrive once more. Even taking a state visit to a neighboring country. People will be drawn to our lands not for what we could give, but what we already give to one another. And if that’s not enough, I’ll say a little more in my native language.
“Power. Power is here for the taking, if you’re willing to work for it. Look at your leaders currently. When we started, we has even less idea of how to work with other nations than to work with our own people. We lacked experience, but we had initiative. We literally just threw open the prestigious World Assembly Delegate position to any citizen who wanted it, and no one even tried for it. A little effort now, no matter your experience, can mean a lot of influence down the road.
“The speaker from Barbaros opened our festival speaking of our past. Our past has shaped us, but I call you now to look to the future. It is my hope that Londinium will last far longer than I do, and there is no time like the present for us to get into action.
“Our peace has made us complacent. Wake up.”
With that, Cari walked off the stage, and was not seen again for the rest of the night.
*Larry Bobson is one of Cari’s top cabinet members and is the usual spokesperson for her nation.

My friends,
It is crazy to believe that this region has been around for over a year. I remember when I was putting it together as just a little experiment, wondering what the result would be. I don't think I ever would have guessed that we'd last this long.
Our region has a rich history. One filled with drama, controversy, advancement, and some pitfalls too. In an age where many regions in Nationstates are feeling some inactivity, we too have been subject to slow periods. Our region, after all, is not perfect. There is still much work to be done.
But what I find encouraging is the number of people who stick around. The people who still find this community rewarding and promising. I think we would all like to see Londinium rise to new heights, and I strongly believe that we can, it might be a long slog rather than a rapid pace rise. With a community as strong as ours, I think that's possible.
Overall, to Londinium! Up with the region, and all of our friends.
