As the Diplomatic Ministry expands, I think a thread for recording general embassy updates for other forums will be good.
Here’s the hastily written February update I’ve been posting in Nye’s absence:

Former Attorney General Sentenced
Approximately 4 months ago, a user named Saint Ehm threatened war against Londinium after failing to pass a resolution making him monarch.
A young (in terms of residency) and seemingly promising user named Tiberius Cecil - appointed Attorney General within his first month of joining the region - took the decision to prosecute, albeit some time after the alleged crimes were committed. Saint Ehm, who had not been active since his failed coup, was to be charged with subversion and anti-government activity.
Tiberius’ frustration was evident when the judiciary ruled that Ehm could not be tried, due to the fact that the crimes he would be tried for did not exist at the time they were committed. The Attorney General argued that since the statute of limitations did not specify anything on the matter, the accused should still be tried, however the court held its position.
Two days after the ruling, a nation named “The Saint Ehm” declared his return, inciting war and destruction against Londinium. It would be important to note that the new Ehm’s posts went against the criminal code (written by Tiberius himself) almost word-for-word.
Despite his frivolous calls for revolution, residents stood strong and endured the short-lived chaos.
In the pandemonium that had unfolded, NS moderators had to intervene as “The Saint Ehm” was declared a fake. The original user posted on the RMB that the account(s) were indeed not his.
After suspicions were raised, Tiberius Cecil admitted impersonating Saint Ehm for the purposes of having grounds to prosecute him. This produced an emotional reaction, from the perpetrator himself too who was declared ‘Delete on Sight’.
Visibly upset, the ashamed attorney general issued apologies to everyone he had harmed through the ordeal.
One justice recused himself from consideration of the case, citing that he did not feel fully able to give a reasonable verdict, from an emotional evening.
Southern-Aurgediam was henceforth appointed special counsel by the Prime Minister as a case against Tiberius was prepared. The defendant entered into a plea deal with the prosecution, pleading guilty to the charges of Fraud, Subversion and Impersonation.
Lord Chancellor, Lady Cari, accepted the plea deal and Tiberius was sentenced to four months and three days forum ban, as well as being barred from taking office for a month after his in-game ban expires.
The sentence will be served on March 10th.
Regional Survey Results
Recently, residents of the region have been asked to complete a questionnaire on Londinium under the Bymarian administration. We have collected the results to share with you. Of the 11 people who have taken the survey so far, most answered that they were not a member of the party and 63.6% of respondents had been a member of the Union since before Bymaria's first term.
When asked to rate the Bymarian administration on a scale of 1 -10, the median result was 9, with a high of 10 and a low of 6. The Prime Minister stated his satisfaction with these ratings, but also expressed his desire to increase them by the end of his tenure.
People had mixed ratings on the judiciary, with a median of 4/5 a high of 5/5 and low of 2/5. There have been many bills submitted to parliament on the topic of the judiciary and their procedures. The three justices each maintain a strong presence in Londinium.
Members were also asked (optional response) what they thought our next steps to improving the region should be. 4 responses spoke about continuing to develop connections with larger regions and developing a foreign affairs policy, something currently being worked on by both Chief Diplomat Nyelant and Prime Minister Bymaria. Nyelant had the success of opening an embassy with Caer Sidi and Bymaria has negotiated for a forum embassy with The Galactic Order.
The efficiency of Parliament was called into question when 27% of the sample saying they were only "satisfactory" in fulfilling their duties. A majority said that they were somewhat efficient.
The questionnaire discovered that most people believe that there should be no specific priority of the new government, however many agreed recruitment and the integration of new members are important. Every person asked recognized their contentment and pride in the region.
Everyone who contributed to the results were asked their opinion on the development of The Royal Militia, which has proven a contentious topic in recent weeks. As you can see from the chart below, there was equal disagreement on whether or not the military should be used for raiding. One person asked disagreed entirely with the prospect of a military.
One user who took the survey commented at the end "We should include in the roleplay section a list of events [that] happened in the main roleplay to keep track of what's going on". Head of Roleplay, Nesearan, indicated his approval of this idea and the PM has since proposed a timeline to track events. Bymaria has reportedly requested that a new section of the forum be created for roleplay as it expands, with folders for each different version.
Modern Roleplay set to Launch Soon!
Presently, Londinium has a 1937 and a 16th century Roleplay, however a modern Roleplay, currently being elaborated by Bymaria and Nesearan (The Regional Head of RP), is expected to formally be announced soon.
The following information was released by Bymaria:
”This time round, Roleplay shall be politically focused, so as such expansion of territory into unclaimed land is NOT permitted. This is in order to ensure new players have a chance and that no single nation holds all the power. That is not to say that there will be no military action, as nations are, however, able to go to war with one another and gain land that way, should it suit them. To enhance the political aspects, NPCs will be much more customary than before, with the heads of Roleplay operating them fairly.
As with previous RP, demographics and statistics MUST be realistic and based largely on that of the real life placement of your nation.
So that players are engaged, problems and dilemmas (as well as other events), largely based on RL present day issues, shall be invented for nations to be involved with. For example, Nesearan and I have agreed that the Middle East conflict will be incorporated into roleplaying as well as a World Cup/Olympic Games, for which a host will be chosen. Other things to expect include terrorist activity and economic crash if you fail to be responsible with your country’s economy. More detail on all of this will be provided.
The European Union is another element to be assimilated into the experience. It will be exactly the same process and countries as it is presently, but more countries may join (and member states can leave) according to the EU system. Additional to this, countries may form Economic Unions, negotiation and co-operation groups as well as alliances, etc are encouraged. Fellow nations can create different versions of the G8 for example and other conferences to discuss various issues.
What this Roleplay will be built on is both the politics of your nation and of the world. When this goes live, make posts about your domestic political landscape/situation as well as involving yourself globally - The former requires more creativity (so make things as interesting - within reasonable bounds - as possible). You should make intriguing characters within your nation to feature in posts.
We’re looking at other ways to change the Roleplay, considering what needs improved to make things more fair.
Please be aware that no action shall be taken within the game until an official start date once users are given a chance to claim a spot on the map.”
