We’ve been discussing on discord about what our culture as a region should be and agreed that this should focus on an ancient theme, as the name “Londinium” was what the Romans named London. A couple of changes to forum layout and names could achieve this.
Most importantly, we should create a new forum section, titled ‘The Capitol’, with different forums with varying functions situated within it. There will be places where people can buy and sell goods at a ‘Forum’ (the Roman marketplace) as well as set up their own stall in the form of a thread; discuss informally in the ‘Agora’, a social place; and speak about religion and philosophy in the ‘Pantheon’. Also in this section there should be a street (the name of which we can all decide), where people create threads to house any other buildings (a museum for example) or residencies which they can provide descriptions of. All of this will sort of work like an interactive story, relying on people’s creativity and writing to make things interesting.
Next to this, we could possibly rename the Citadel forum to ‘Acropolis, to fit with the theme.
Thoughts?

Wow! I really love these ideas. Maybe we could have a Colosseum for games & stuff (maybe the spam games could go here) and we could have gladiator fights.

We should make a religion based on capitalism
And we should have like a rite of passage thing.

For the street name, ‘Ermine Street’ was the Roman road from Londinium to Eboracum. Or we might go with something simple like ‘The Great Pass’ or ‘Caledonia Avenue’ or something. ‘Castle Avenue’ maybe?

Eboracum Avenue? Non traditional, but I think it has a ring to it. Also sort of has an alliteration.

I am not against a Roman-themed culture at all. If we go that direction, however, I think we should also consider renaming our governmental positions accordingly.

Roman-themed or ancient-themed? Two different things. Well they first suggested Ancient Rome's cultural theme because "Londinium" is the name Romans gave to London. So we have Roman-themed as the current front runner. Unless if someone suggest Ancient Greece or Egypt etc.

It would make sense if we were going for a Roman theme for the reasons you mentioned, but I've heard both ideas.

I feel like if we want to go this direction, we are better off going all-in on the Roman theme and appropriating other ancient cultural aspects as needed. Ironically, that would be just like the Romans anyway

I really Like this idea Bymaria , it is very creative and has alot of potential. I'll go ahead and leave some ideas for evaluation if it is worth a second thought. First of all, how are we dealing with the subject of Roman citizenship? Since this should be a Roman themed culture we have the deviding issue of citizenship. Maybe it is just going to be splitting between actual citizen and resident , just q thought. Also if we change the our regions theme , why not change the roleplay accordingly ? It is no big deal to change up any of the proposals made (independent if they are mine or not) to fit the Theme. I might add more to this post through editing, but that is it rn.

I quite like the government office names now and how it could seem like a mix of ancient and sort of regal / British with the parliament and Prime Minister.
