How does it work if there's an insufficient number of candidates?

According to the constitution, "[if] there remain vacant seats in the Parliament for a time period exceeding seven days and the requisite number of citizens have not stood in a special election to fill said seats, the Monarch may, in his wisdom, appoint citizens to serve in the Parliament until said term naturally expires." (Article III, Section II, [§13.]) So, with the current state of things, it looks like Fortwhile will be appointing someone.

Well, Fort has a choice from 110 nations at the current moment.

Thing is that the law does not prohibit a "might be" Minister to run as MP. So if there is nobody who wanted to try to get in, maybe one of the more active nations could run...

If there are 5 seats but only 4 people to vote on. Why do we even need to vote?

I was thinking that perhaps it should be fixed where in cases like this where there are 5 or less people running they would automatically be sworn in/appointed etc. If there was 6 candidates then we could vote. Also the election in general is taking to long. It should be across a week. 3 days to declare, 2 to campaign and 2 to vote. An agile democracy isn't compatible with long elections in NS.

I agree with the proposition where elections with fewer candidates than positions they would be sworn in automatically, or "acclaimed". Also, we did have some complaints in the past that voting times were not long enough, but I do agree with the declaration and campaign times.

It would save time to follow that idea when there's an insufficient number of candidates. I say in that case, the monarch should only be allowed two days to elect MPs (the two days that would have been used for voting). Just to help things move along, as Tiberius is pointing out.

That's definitely not enough time to campaign in my mind? Though, not sure why the "declaration" period would need to be separate from the campaigning. I'd be amendable to 5 days for campaigning, and 2 for voting. But as others have said, last time I tried to make voting shorter I got criticized Hopefully there's a happy medium somewhere!

You wouldn't need to be worried about criticism if we made election guidelines the law of the land.
